Students collecting food in lieu of treats this Halloween
- EFN Staff | October 31, 2017
Students from several schools within Greater Saskatoon Catholic Schools will be spending their Halloween going door-to-door asking for non-perishable food in support of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre instead of tricks-or-treats.
Residents are encouraged to give non-perishable food items if students come to your door on October 31. Students will identify themselves and the school they represent. Their food drive may be named Halloweening for Hunger, We Scare Hunger, Crusade Against Hunger, or some other similar name, depending on the school.
According to the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre's 2016 annual report, the centre gave over 1.3 million kilograms of food in almost 79,000 hampers last year.
