Northern teams wrap up another action-packed season
- Mark Williment | November 02, 2016
The fourth season of Northern Saskatchewan Football wrapped up this last weekend with three provincial quarter final games. Two of these games were hosted in the north. Staff at Pinehouse and La Ronge did a fantastic job preparing for each of their games, in particular with their fields having a lot of water removed after rain and melting snow. While each of the three northern teams were defeated, players, coaches and communities can hold their heads up after a fantastic year of competition.

In 1A,
the Pinehouse Lakers hosted their first ever provincial match against Hudson
Bay. The visiting team defeated Pinehouse by a score of 52-18. In 2A, the La
Ronge Churchill Chargers hosted the team from Watrous and lost by a score of
60-14. The third game had the Beauval Voyageurs travel to Wynyard. The team
from Wynyard is considered to be one of the best in Saskatchewan and
demonstrated this with an 89-6 victory over Beauval.
Once again, Northern Saskatchewan Football is grateful for the work of coaches and officials with young people. Thanks to parents, families and communities for supporting football. In the off season, there will be opportunities for camps and we will support northern players to attend.
