- EFN Staff | January 10, 2014
The Saskatoon Health Region (SHR) has set up an additional mass immunization clinic to offer free vaccine this flu season:
Saturday, January 11, 2014
9 a.m. - 4 p.m.
Saskatoon City Hospital (not West Winds Primary Health Centre)
"The vaccine is effective in preventing the dominant strain of influenza observed, which is H1N1," says Deputy Medical Health Officer Dr. Shovita Padhi. "Getting your influenza immunization is the best tool we have at our disposal to protect yourself, your family and others."
To date, SHR reports 31 hospitalizations from influenza, with 22 occurring since December 23.
However, today the SHR announced only pregnant women and children under five can get the vaccine, due to limited supply. For more information, visit SHR's website.
