Green Lake hosts first Northern Football League game

Northern Saskatchewan Football had five games including the first ever game in Green Lake. Wednesday was the inaugural home game for the Green Lake Spirits. Four players scored touchdowns including five by Braedy Sinclair to help Green Lake defeat Beauval 54-25.
Opening the week on Monday, Cumberland House led by
touchdowns from four different players defeated Senator Myles Venne from the
Lac La Ronge Indian Band by a score of 57-6.
On Tuesday, the defending champion Pinehouse Lakers
finished the regular season a perfect 4-0 with a 71-14
win over the Buffalo Narrows Eagles. Combining for 10 touchdowns in that game
were Johnny, Tanner and Dray Tinker as well as George and Jaydon Natomagan.
La Ronge’s team, the Churchill Chargers were defeated in
Spiritwood by a score of 43-20. Finally on Thursday, the Creighton Kodiaks
maintained a perfect 3-0 record and secured first place in the Eastern Division
with a convincing 61-6
victory over Sandy Bay. Kodiak, Evan Linnick scored 37 points himself with four
touchdowns, kicked a field goal and five 2 point converts in the game.
Looking ahead to week #5 on Monday, Green Lake will
travel to Buffalo Narrows. On Tuesday, La Loche hosts Beauval. On Wednesday,
Sandy Bay will be in Creighton for an important game to decide second place in
the Eastern Division. On Thursday, there
will be a double header in the la Ronge area as the Senator Myles Venne team
hosts the Creighton Kodiaks and across town, the La Ronge Churchill Chargers
will play Birch Hills. On Monday, October 6 the La Loche Lakers will finish the
regular season with a final game in Green Lake. This game was rescheduled from
earlier in the season.
At the end of the fourth week, both the Pinehouse Lakers and Creighton Kodiaks have established first place and home field advantage for the playoffs in their respective divisions. Leading play in offensive statistics is Johnny Tinker from Pinehouse with 113 points, while Evan Linnick from Creighton has 93 points with one game remaining. On defense, Dustin Montgrand from La Loche leads with five quarterback sacks. Easton McKenzie from Cumberland House leads all players with two interceptions.
