Hunger Awareness Week: Join the conversation
- EFN Staff | September 21, 2015
In March of 2015 alone, 12,774 people accessed the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre.
During the week of September 21st – 25th the Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre is raising awareness of hunger in our community.
Laurie O’Connor, Executive Director of the Saskatoon Food Bank says, “We are inviting the public to join the conversation by coming by their local food bank and learn what we’re doing to alleviate hunger and poverty in our city."
Hunger Awareness Week is a National program, where food banks across the country are holding events to tell the story of the work they do in their communities and the stories of hungry Canadians assisted by their programs.
Food Bank use in Saskatoon increased by 12% between 2013 and 2014.
The public is welcome to stop by the food bank to learn more. The organization also asks that the public join the conversation with #HungerWeek and try to make a positive impact on the issue of hunger this week.
