The Liberal party of Canada has been working hard to recruit Aboriginal candidates in Saskatchewan. Lawyer Lisa Abbot has already been nominated in the Saskatoon West riding.
Up north, former FSIN Chief and Vice Chief Lawrence Joseph has announced his candidacy for the nomination in in Desnethé Missinippi Churchill River in the 2015 Federal Election. In the 2011 Federal Election, Mr. Joseph, who ran as an NDP, received 44.3% of the vote, losing to the Conservative MP Rob Clarke by less than 800 votes.
“The Conservative’s answer to the First Nations housing crisis is building more jails. That’s not right. We need to invest in our young people and build more education. I’m excited about Justin Trudeau’s leadership – he is listening to us and giving Canadians a chance to help shape our own future,” said Joseph.
In North Battleford area, prominent City Councillor and radio host Ray Fox has put his name forward to run for the Liberal nomination in Battlefords-Lloydminster.
