Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan Inc. (PotashCorp) and Kitsaki Management Limited Partnership (Kitsaki) are launching a matching gift campaign to supply the immediate food needs of forest fire evacuees as they return home to their communities across northern Saskatchewan.
Each company will match every dollar donated, up to $50,000 each, until July 31, 2015, with the goal of providing 5,000 food hampers for distribution across the North.
“PotashCorp is committed to having a positive impact on local food security,” said Denita Stann, Vice President, Investor and Public Relations. “We recognize families will have an immediate need for food when they return home. We hope that this matching gift campaign will help our neighbors and encourage others in our community to donate.”
Russell Roberts, Chief Executive Officer of Kitsaki, said, “We operate across the North, and know that people are going to need short-term help to get re-established. Not only are we pleased to make this $50,000 contribution from our group of companies to encourage others to help, we are very proud to participate with our companies, like Northern Resource Trucking and Athabasca Catering, to help collect and transport food to northern communities.”
Athabasca Catering supplier, Pratt’s Wholesale, is contributing expertise and labour to coordinate shipment of food for the hampers.
PotashCorp’s contribution of $50,000 is part of its previously announced $100,000 commitment to relief efforts.
