The First Nations and Arts communities are deeply saddened by the death of Lacey Morin-Desjarlais. Here are just a handful of tributes pouring in for the talented artist. She will be greatly missed by so many.
It’s been a tough day here trying to make sense of this huge loss. At Saskatchewan Native Theatre Company we have been looking at photos and video and remembering the gifts and spirit of Lace. And so much love for Michelle Sereda who Curtis planned on working with next season. Thanks to everyone for your kind words and our thoughts and prayers with the families of those who were lost. – Alan Long
She meant so much to everyone here at SNTC. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. – SNTC
It's hard to explain the emptiness today. In a whisper, they're gone. Ripples upon ripples, these four touched so many. – Kenneth T. Williams
Our family was very sad to hear of Lace's passing. She was truly gifted. It was an honour to have met her. – Helen Semaganis
I am in shock. Three incredibly talented and generous souls were taken from us yesterday. You will be greatly missed Lacy, Michelle and Michael. I knew and loved you all. – Andrea Menard
Rest in peace Lacey. You rocked Claire Bear and made me and my family laugh. We are grateful we got to see you shine. Sympathies to the families and friends who lost loved ones today. – John Lagimodiere
Dear Lace, My heart is heavy. Words cannot express the loss that we all feel. This morning we were supposed to be meeting up as Storykeepers at the MacKenzie, instead, I am writing this. Thank you so much for taking Trudy and I out for supper last week. The kind words and appreciation you shared were returned. It was an honor to be apart of your first production alongside Michele! You were beautiful and wise and inspired me in ways you will never know. I will honor you as best as I can. I am sharing the picture you asked me to take after we wrapped your shoot. We were all amazed at all the light and colors of the setting sun. I miss you and love you my friend! Happy I got to know you. – Janine Windolph
Oh sister, I'm so sorry. Beautiful wise dancing souls like you are supposed to grow old and lead us. I'm honoured to wear a piece of your art as a tattoo and close my heart. You have touched many hearts in your life and may you now know just how much and how many as you watch over all of us. May you always be a guide and rest in peace. Love you – Jean Anne Kennedy
You were a teacher to me, even in the limited amount of time that I knew you and with such little effort. Even though I knew you for such a short time, you somehow changed my life; I learned so much from knowing you, and your gifts will be with me for a very long time. Máhsi set?leh, dancing with your ancestors now – Eugene Boulanger
