Back to Batoche Festival Days starts today with an incredible program of entertainment and activities.
“This year’s festival has shaped up to be an amazing event and we look forward to welcoming our brothers and sisters from across the Métis Nation,” said Festival Co-Chair, Robert Doucette. “We have partnered with the Métis Nation of Alberta for a full day of Alberta hospitality on Friday and look forward to welcoming many of Manitoba’s finest Métis musicians who will be performing for us all weekend.”
The event begins with the Opening Ceremonies on Friday during which 130 butterflies will be released to recognize the 130th anniversary of the Batoche Resistance.
“This year, we have partnered with SUNTEP students to provide four days of fun-filled programming at the Children’s Pavilion which we are thrilled about,” said Sandra Youngchief, Festival Coordinator.
“It is a first for Back to Batoche and we are most grateful for their interest in working with us to ensure our kids are active and entertained.”
The full schedule of events and activities can be viewed on the Back to Batoche website.
As Canada’s largest Métis cultural event and Saskatchewan’s premier Métis festival, Back to Batoche welcomes visitors from across Canada and the United States for the celebration of Métis culture, traditions, and heritage.
