United Way of Saskatoon & area launches new community investment strategy, calls for applications
- Apply by May 11 & October 5, 2015 | March 17, 2015
Saskatoon is changing and United Way has recognized the need to develop and implement a Community Investment Strategy that reflects the changes and growth happening in our city.
The new Community Investment Strategy has three main components – invest in the operations and service delivery of local community based organizations, lead initiatives that create community wide impact, and implement activities that build and enhance capacity and organizational effectiveness in the non-profit sector. The Strategy will guide United Way investment of time, knowledge and resources into achieving a specific set of short-term and long-term goals under three focus areas:
- Building strong communities.
- Helping kids be all that they can be.
- Moving people from poverty to possibility.
As a key component of United Way of Saskatoon and Area’s new Community Investment Strategy, an open call has been announced today, inviting eligible organizations to apply for 2016 United Way funding. All eligible community-based organizations in Saskatoon, who share and align with United Way’s vision, focus areas and goals will now have the opportunity to apply for United Way funding. The open call will allow United Way to extend their reach into the community, be more responsive to emerging needs and better achieve goals for community and social change.
“Our donors and our community rely on United Way to make responsible and impactful investments to improve lives in Saskatoon and area” says United Way Interim CEO, Myra Potter, “this open call for applications will allow us to better serve the needs of our community’s most vulnerable individuals and families.”
The launch of this Community Investment Strategy will elevate the way in which United Way can change lives in our community. With an increased emphasis on Aboriginal engagement and outcome based planning and evaluation, the impact will prove significantly positive for our community.
