The Whitecap Development Corporation (WDC) has partnered with a company in Alberta to bring electrical, instrumentation, construction, and fabrication opportunities in Saskatchewan’s oil and gas and mining sectors.
WDC is the business arm of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation.
Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. has been appointed to manage the new partnership formed between WDC and PTW Energy Services Ltd. of Nisku, Alta.
“We are pleased to partner with PTW and Tarpon. They have demonstrated industry leading commitment to quality, service and safety,” said Chief Darcy Bear of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation and president of the WDC. “We feel that this is a great partnership because their values align with ours and the services provided by Tarpon are an excellent and complementary addition to the partnerships we have formed through our Whitecap Industrial Services division.”
“It’s an honour for me personally as well as for our organization to partner with a forward-thinking entrepreneurial community that demonstrates excellence in leadership and economic development,” said Rick Wickland, president of Tarpon Energy Services Ltd. “We look forward to building a mutually beneficial relationship and conducting business in a way that supports, strengthens and reinforces the core values and approaches of the Whitecap Dakota First Nation community.”
Over the last three years, Tarpon has expanded its commitment to its core values of community and people by developing lasting partnerships with Aboriginal businesses. This is the second formal Aboriginal partnership that Tarpon has entered into. Through this partnership, Tarpon will have the opportunity to participate in sustainable economic ventures that will have lasting benefits for all partnership stakeholders for seven generations and longer.
Incorporated in 1990, the WDC has been the economic engine that has fueled growth that has resulted in over $100 million in capital investment and created 700 jobs in the community. The WDC recently founded Whitecap Industrial Services, a new division that is comprised of world-class service providers that will focus on the mining, resources, oil and gas, and utilities sectors in Saskatchewan.
