Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) recently announced the official re-opening of its North Battleford Career Centre.
On February 8th, SIIT held a grand opening ceremony where the renovated facility is twice the size of the previous space, offering a range of programs for job seekers. This Centre will also serve local employers- providing opportunities for businesses across a variety of industries to connect with a skilled, Indigenous workforce.
“This facility provides an additional 2,700 square feet to SIIT’s North Battleford footprint,” said James Ouellette SIIT Director of Career Centres in a media release. “It includes bright, comfortable classroom and career counselling space located blocks away from our existing trade shop. Together, these facilities house the hands-on training and support that our clients require to succeed.”
With eight locations, SIIT’s Career Centres provide employment services aligned with local industry needs. This year, Career Centres are anticipated to provide supports to over 6,500 clients, facilitate over 2,700 employment connections and numerous trade indentures.
“At SIIT we strive to provide the best experiences for Career Centre clients, and this environment only furthers that goal,” said SIIT President & CEO Riel Bellegarde. “We look forward to hearing more about the positive reach of this Centre to community members in the Battlefords and Treaty Six region.”
The SIIT Career Centre is located at 1301-101st Street in North Battleford, SK.
