DION NORRN
AGE: 16
HOME: FORT RESOLUTION, NORTHWEST TERRITORIES
SPORT: OUTDOOR SOCCER
Dion Norrn has been playing soccer for almost six years. He has competed in Alberta and Alaska as well.
He was happy when he found out that he made it for the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) to compete in the sport he loves.
"I was really excited. I felt shivers throughout my whole body. It was a great experience because my aunties have made it before."
This is his first visit in Regina, Saskatchewan and so far he's enjoying his experience at NAIG.
"It's really interesting. I like that they put culture within the sports as well."
He's looking forward in having fun and gaining a memorable experience.
"I'm looking forward to meet new people and bonding with my teammates because we're from all over NWT."
He trains with three guys from his home community to help him prepare for the competitions at NAIG.
His message to the youth who would like to work hard to compete in NAIG is never give up trying.
"Keep practicing. It's not going to come to you as quick as possible. You just got to keep trying and eventually you'll make it."
