BRADLEY SOOSAY
AGE: 18
TEAM ALBERTA
SPORT: ATHLETICS U19
Bradley Soosay from Team Alberta had a great experience at the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) held in Regina.
When he received the news that he was going to be representing his home province, he was excited to take in the experience.
"I was excited and I just wanted to come here and play."
He's been in track and field for eight years and he even played basketball so he could keep up with his running.
Upon competing in athletics, Soosay injured himself so he wasn't able to continue playing.
"I had to pull out of track because I hurt myself pulling my hamstring and I was out for the rest of the games."
Despite being injured, he did not allow that to bring down his spirits, he continued on to make the most of his experience.
"It was really good; I had a lot of fun meeting new people and making new friends; it was fun."
Aside from playing sports, Soosay got accepted into the University of Toronto to study police investigation after graduating high school.
His advice to the youth who want to be an athlete in NAIG in the future is to never give up playing sports.
"Keep trying, trying your hardest, training and giving it your all and I hope everyone has a lot of fun at the next NAIG."
