JAURIE ALEXIS
AGE: 15
TEAM ALBERTA
SPORT: SOFTBALL U16
Jaurie Alexis, from Team Alberta, had a very awesome experience at the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG) competing in the sport she loves.
When she received the news that she was picked to represent her province in NAIG, she was lost for words and couldn't believe that she made it.
". I was overexcited and pretty happy when I heard that I made it for the sport," she says.
Alexis have been playing softball for around five to six years in her home community. She trained herself hard to prepare herself to compete in the games.
"I did jogs in the morning and I played catch with people."
Even though they took fourth place, that didn't stop her from making the most of her experience, which was making new friends and enjoying at the entertainment at the Kirby Littletent Memorial Cultural Village held at the First Nations University of Canada.
Her advice for the youth who would like to compete in NAIG is to have faith in themselves.
"Do not stop trying and believe in yourself because everything is possible."
