Another member of the Onion Lake Cree Nation (OLCN) won big cash with Lotto Max. Josie Whitstone could not believe her eyes when she checked her ticket and discovered she won $100,000 on the May 18 EXTRA draw.
“I didn’t believe it at first,” she said in a media release. “I had to check my ticket a couple times to count all the zeros.”
Whitstone’s ticket was one of three sold on the prairies that matched the last six digits of the winning EXTRA number - 5812270. The other two winners in the category were sold in Regina and Calgary.
Whitstone said she asked her sister to check the ticket for her before she took her ticket to the prize office in Saskatoon. Even afterwards, she wasn’t sure how much she won.
“We both thought I was going to have to share the prize with two other winners,” she said. “I got super excited when they told me I won a full $100,000!”
She plans to save some of her winnings and pay off some bills.
“It’s nice to be able to put some money away,” she said. “One day I’ll probably put it toward a house.”
Whitstone purchased her winning ticket at 7-Eleven Food Store, located at 7401 34th Street in Lloydminster.
On June 6th, Marlon Weekusk from the OLCN won the Dakota Dunes Casino largest jackpot hitting the top tier progressive playing the Smoke Signals machine winning $1,822,621.97.
