Today is the start of the Coroner’s Inquest into the death of Nadine Machiskinic held in Regina until Friday. On January 10, 2015 Machiskinic, 29, was found at the Regina’s Delta hotel unresponsive after she fell from a 10-storey laundry chute. She was pronounced dead several hours after she was transported to the hospital.
The Chief Coroner announced the inquest last June around the same time that the final report was released. The inquest will determine the cause of death of Machiskinic with recommendations by the end of the week. The final report indicated the medical cause of death was “blunt force trauma due to fall with drug toxicity being a significant contributing factor” and also that the manner of her death was accidental. It was revealed the “examination of the body showed numerous old bruises and recent bruising below the eyes and on the nose and the chin.”
Inside the final report investigation findings, a hotel lobby video camera showed two males and a female, with clothing similar to what Machiskinic was wearing when she was found, walking into the elevator shortly after 2 o’clock am. About an hour and 45 minutes later, the fire alarm was pulled which leads into the laundry chute.
More details about Machiskinic’s death will be released throughout the week of the inquest wrapping up on Friday March 31st at the Queensbury Convention Centre at Evraz Place.
She left behind four children.
