Nutrien to occupy largest building in River Landing development

Nutrien Ltd. has announced that they will occupy what will be the tallest office building in Saskatchewan.
The building, designated as Nutrien Tower, will be located on north edge of Saskatoon’s River Landing, across from Remai Modern Art Gallery. Nutrien will occupy the top eight floors of the 18-storey building. The “state of the art” tower will feature floor to ceiling exterior windows, a rooftop winder garden and patio, fitness centre, and on-site conference facilities.
“Nutrien made this decision to invest in the community, as well as Nutrien tower, for several reasons,” said Nutrien President and CEO Chuck Margo during Thursday’s announcement. “This is a great location, it’s going to make the city of Saskatoon very proud, and an emblem of what the city is and what it will hold for the future.”
The tower will be the future headquarters of Nutrien Ltd, a company which was formed on January 1 in a merger between Potash Corp and Agrium Inc. Margo said the building will accommodate around 400 Nutrien employees.
“We need the space and we need top talent in this community to help us with our growth platform, because we have big plans to grow Nutrien globally,” said Margo.
According to Nutrien, the tower will be environmentally sustainable and energy efficient, with developers aiming for LEED Gold Certification.
As the largest employer in the province, Margo said that projects like these are about investing back into the community.
“Developments like these are not about steel or glass or even money, they’re about people,” he said. “Building a community, something we all can be proud of.”
Mayor Charlie Clark said this is “this is absolutely huge for Saskatoon.”
“To make a commitment like this is a phenomenal sign of the confidence in the future of our community,” he said.
Clark also praised Nutrien for the strides they’ve taken with the Indigenous community.
“I want to comment on the leadership Nutrien has shown in building strong relationships with the Indigenous community. In many ways, for being a leader in figuring out how to Indigenize a company,” said Clark.
The company is planning a move-in date of late 2021 or early 2022.
